On the Acorp 5ALI61 Socket 7 motherboard I have for the P166MMX @ 200 there has come to my attention a little problem.
On the installation of SiSoft it reports the CPU at 100Mhz.
I did a bench of the processor and sure enough its at 100.
Deciding that it might not want to run at 100Mhz I took the FSB down to 83Mhz... (210) and Sisoft reports 104Mhz and it benches at that level.
Getting really annoyed at this I set everything to default and sure enough when I check the CPU speed... 88Mhz and it benches at that level.
On boot up it shows the correctly set speed but it seems that somewhere along the way there is a slight error
I checked the hardware and revisions and have found that my board is a revision D with the B level Southbridge and according to Acorps limited information the newest bios is available but it won't flash through with a nonsupported hardware fault.. oh well... off to more fiddling.
