  • Matrox g400 tv output?

I'm planning to buy g400/g450 dualhead.
How good is matrox tv output? Yea,I know great picture quality,but...
I mean those black borders you can see with 3dfx&nvidia cards.
For nvidia cards there is tv-out util ,which let you zoom desktop to match the size of 4:3 TV 100%. Is there such overscan feature for matrox cards? Or is it integrated to drivers? Or is there not solution for black border problem? Or is it problem at all for matrox cards?

    edit: some shit...

Matrox cards have two TV-out modes.
In clone mode (what is similart to "classic" TV-outs) there are black borders on TV and these borders are unremoveable.
In DVDMax mode, what is meant for video-clip output, there are no black borders.

So I guess this dvdmax mode is driver integrated feature.
Is it only dvd/mpeg2 video output or can it be used with mpeg4/divx stuff? I've seen macrovision patches,do they work
      with win98se?

Yes, DVDMax is Driver/Hardware level implemented feature and can be used with almost any clip. To be exact, with all clips which codecs use video overlay.

No idea about MacroVision 'cause it doesn't bother me

Matrox does not officially support DIVX, but there is a user-written patch that will allow it to work. Otherwise, as prr said, if it uses an overlay for display, it will use DVDMax...
