  • Zalman Problems....

I installed my Zalman CNPS3100 this weekend hoping I would get some better cooling in my current rig and to test the HS to see what the best configuration might be.

    Room temp approx.- 28-30°C.

    Prior setup-
    69cfm 120mm fan with 65x65mm angled duct 4.5" from side-panel to an Alpha PAL6035 with a 28cfm 60mm fan on it.

    Idle- low 40's
    Load- high 40's

    Trial #1-
    69cfm 120mm fan with 120x120mm straight duct ( |_| ) 5" long from side-panel down over HS. With 125cfm front intake.

    Idle- mid 50's C
    Load- Low 60's C

    Trial #2-
    69cfm 120mm fan with 120x70mm angled ( \_/ ) duct 4" long from side-panel down over HS. With 125cfm front intake.

    Idle- low 50's C
    Load- high 50's C

    Trial #3-
    125mm 120mm fan with 120x70mm angled ( \_/ ) duct 4" long from side-panel down over HS. With 69cfm front intake.

    Idle- mid 40's C
    Load- high 40's C

Does this sound right? I was hoping that the Zalman might be a little more efficient and not need that monster 120mm fan on it since I'm moving to a new case and wanted to just duct out the back with an 80 or 92mm fan.

    Any other recommendations/suggestions?

    thanks,

    amish

Mish, what is the case ambient temperature (not chipset temp)?

They're a little blurry. I guess my hands weren't very steady.

That's the setup. The fan is 125cfm YS-Tech.

This setup gets me about 50°C under load on a Duron 800 clocked to 1029 (7.0@147) and 1.89v.

Any suggestions to get the heat down are appreciated.
