  • Bongo asks another dumb question about capturing DV?

    Hey there

I currently have a DV camera but no means to input images into the computer. If I but a firewire card, do I still need something like RR-400 or Marvel-TV to actually edit the capture?

Or is it adequate/good to simply have a firewire card and get some NLE software, bypassing the RR-400 entirely?

Is there an advantage to having BOTH a firewire card AND RR-400?

Is there a single firwire/analog inputcard out there?

    muchas gracious for any help!!

    Hello again Bongo

    but? buy!
No you don't need a RR-G or Marvel; unless you want or need analog in/out.

See above. The IEEE-1394 card is all you need hardware wise to input and output in DV format.

    -------------------------------------------
Just the flexability of being able to use both analog and DV.

    -------------------------------------------
Yes, two examples are the DV500 (needs highend video card) and MATROX RT2000(comes with optimized G400). However they are around $900US and $1200US. Other solutions are available but are even more expencive.

If you are going to stay with DV going in and out, then staying with 'only' a 1394 card is fine and less costly.
    Hope the info helps!
