    New Project "DuRaNgO/MU"

    Well. I put together my new system tonight:

    AMD 1.4

    Thermalright SK6 Pro

    SoYo K7VDRAGON

    256mb Infineon PC2400 dDr

    A video card that is not going to be nVidEa, but will not be named yet, or has it already been named?

    First boot to 1.4;
    Second boot to 1662.5
    Third boot to 1712.5

    More to come.......................................... ;P

          No Dad, your promised ME the old computer after this long with a Celeron 466!

          The Screen Savers show on TechTV did some overclocking of either an Athlon 1.2 a few months ago. I think they got it pretty high, maybe you could do a look over there to compare.

              update time...

              First the bad news....

              After doing some mods on the system to get it stable above 1700,
              I killed the mobo It seems water, electricity and mobos don't mix very well
              So I picked up an Epox 8k7a as a replacement...

              Next, the new case I ordered from www.colorcases.com arrived today, the wrong color, with no power supply (I was supposed to get a free upgrade to a 400wt. from the included 300wt. but got NONE!?!)

              I've sent them an e-mail, I'll let you know how they handle this

                            My 1st machine has been upgraded from P3/BX/PC133 -> Athlon 1G/AMD760/PC2100.

                            I just could say that Athlon 1G + AMD 760 + PC2100 combination has enough main memory bandwidth to handle 700 ~ 800 MB disk cache. It might be one of the fastest disk cache controller in the world. My old system cannot even handle more than 300 MB disk cache with positive benefit. With some background jobs and services, the console response time of the new system can even match my old 2nd SMP machine which has 2 PII-450. This SMP machine only has 100 MHz memory bus. However, the console response is always better than single P3-733 when there are some jobs in the background.

                            How about VIA KT133A? Only one word -- It sucks! With Athlon 1.33 G + PC133 + GF2 GTS, it lags during DVD playback. PII 400 + BX chipset even does this job better than it. During playing games, I found it would always suddenly lag. I seldom saw this problem on BX or AMD chipset systems.
