  • G400-TV Questions on NT4.0. Playback concerns?

    Hello!

I just got my G400-TV card setup with the latest NT drivers and Video Tools running on NT4.0 SP6a.

So far things are working perfectly for capturing (Aside from some initial inadequate Powersuply problems!).

Capturing works fine for 704x480 30 fps with zero skipped frames.

However, I cannot play it back smoothly in PC-VCR or Media player. Only the first 10 seconds or so plays smooth and then the video takes huge pauses and seems to only update maybe one frame out of each second (30 frames)...

Looks like some kind of caching problem but I am not sure. If I can record to my HD with zero frame skip, how can I not playback?? (Every Harddrive I know is faster at reading than writing.)

Currently, I only have one 20 Gig Quantum UDMA which has my NT install and some partitions using NTFS for the videos.

I have tried NTFS and FAT16. Same results...
I have tried virtual memory completely disabled as well as high priorities for the PC-VCR. Same results everytime.

It plays low resolution OK but I must have maximum quality maximum size, 30 fps.

    Thanks for any suggestions.
    Mike

    System Used:
Dual Celeron 433 Mhz (No overclock)
    128 MB RAM
    20 GIG UDMA Quantum drive.

What software are you using to Capture. I'm trying to get G400, WinNT and VideoWaveIII working but I can't seem to get capture to work.

    Thanks,

    Peter
