  • Reducing noise from dvd-rom; how???

Ok due to a breakdown I had to buy a replacement for my Pioneer 103-s dvd-rom, and chose ..... the 106-s

I use the drive for watching movies on my tv (praise to the inventor of dualhead) but this new drive makes a lot of noise, it seems as if it speeds up (as it should when accessing a disc), but it never reduces the speed afterwards, when watching dvd's that is, this is not a problem with normal cd-roms.

Anyone have any idea if I can reduce this irritating noise?

There are some free utilities that allow You to set max speed of CD/DVD-ROMS. Don't recall the exact name of the util at the moment...

Yes do they use a turbo-prop engine to spin that disk?

Some time ago I saw something about a utility that allowed one to reduce the speed of a cd-drive, but I cant remember where, and I cant find anything when searching.

Hey man... check out any of the Playstation emulator sites... usually they have a link or an article somewhere in the archives on how to slow down fast drives using software they have found to smooth out the games video running through the emulator.

Give me a few secs.. the one I remember was in german.

It may or may not work... but its worth a try... the homepage is at

                SUCCESS

Finally I have the time to try Nero Drivespeed out and it works now I dont need those earplugs anymore.

The other program cd-bremse didnt work for me, but it was definately worth a shot.

                Thx guys
