  • Anyone else excited about Max Payne?

    Greetings!

I've been looking forward to this one for a while.
The system requirements are pretty steep, so I'll have to see how
it runs on my G400MAX.......hhmmm...Radeon 64MB VIVO is
on sale at a local shop...
I would be interested in how it runs on other Murcers' machines.

Believe it or not the game even runs on the G200, with some lower settings but hey it runs, so you don't have worry about it. I have been working closely with Remedy, 3dRealms and of course GOD on supporting Matrox ie: Murcers

    Enjoy!

Tom, dunno if it can be of interest for you, but the Max Payne piece that cames into the demo part of 3DMarks 2001 works really well on my Duron 800 coupled with a G400 Vanilla.

        At 1024*768 32 bit.
Sat on a pile of deads, I enjoy my oysters.

I installed Max Payne last night and all I can say is that it ROCKS!!

          I am running
          PIII667
          320Mb 133 RAM
          G400MAX

I run Max Payne @ 1024 x 768 32bit with medium detail setting and it is very smooth. I haven't tested FPS yet but will do some time over he weekend.

              Joel,

The retail version is already in the stores...
the 120 demo should be available in a couple of weeks.
Also, a 6MB patch should be available by the
weekend to fix a memory leak problem.

To get the fps, add -developerkeys to your shortcut and hit F11 to get the stats in overlay mode.

Also try these commands for fun with that switch in the shortcut:

C - Cycle through three camera modes
                PageUp - Cycle mesh up
                PageDown - Cycle mesh down
Ctrl + PageUp - Cycle TextureSet up
Ctrl + PageDown - Cycle TextureSet down
                Home - Increase game speed
                End - Decrease game speed
Home + End - Set game speed to 1.00x
Insert - Teleport Max to next start point
Delete - Teleport Max to previous start point
F7 - Switches AI movement network connections visualization
F8 - Switches AI movement network node visualization
                F11 - Toggle statistics on / off
                F12 - Open Console
Arrow Left - External camera left
Arrow Right - External camera right
Arrow Up - External camera forward
Arrow Down - External camera backward

                Regards,

                    MaxPayne with G400

Well nice to hear that Matrox G400 can handle that game with 1024x768x32 with your P3 computer..

I have a 1.4G Thunderbird with G400MAX so guessing i can do atleast the same resolution. =)

Dont know when im getting the game, but i should get it soon, maybe i come back here and post the FPS scores. =)

OK I have done some testing in both Medium and High detail.
                      All testing was done @ 1024 x 768 32Bit

                      Tutorial

                      Medium Detail:

                      Walking Around 35 - 40FPS
                      Fighting 25 - 30FPS

                      High Detail:

                      Walking Around 20 - 25FPS
                      Fighting 14 - 20FPS

                      Subway

High Detail could drop as low as 12FPS

The eye candy with High Detail is just superb, however, can be at times sluggish.

                      G400MAX lives LOL

Well anything below 25-30fps sounds pretty horrible to me so hoping that i can squeze some extra fps from my computer. If not then i guess i just have to settle for 800x600 or even lower than that. I was planning to buy a new graphics card end of the summer or early fall, but just maybe this will speed things up a bit.

                          Max Payne

Just got the game and i have to say it looks AMAZING. High detail is MAX-PAIN with G400MAX ( My thunderbird was clocked only to 1G, but still ).. so you all can forget atleast 1024x768x32 high detail with any Matrox cards.

Going to test with my normal setting (1.4G) soon, but the damn house is near 30C and guessing my matrox card gets too darn hot ( pic gets screwed up ).

Medium settings were pretty good, fps went from 60-30 when playing.

Dont know if im just really CRAPPY at this game, but i get killed pretty darn fast.. Well maybe i have to start using that dodge button ( not talking about the bullet time, witch is the best idea in a FPS-game in a LOOONG time. )

More on Max soon, when i get to play some more.. now going to play some GOLF.
