inquiry about the ouput and drivers

hey...reading through the green line deally...you guys mentioned setting the advanced menu to output to TV so it would play all files without switching to dvdmax mode. just wondering...mine not working like that. the only difference i got was my tv signal would output to tv. i am assuming this might be cause my vidtools and drivers are old and it wasn't quite finished yet. I am using vid tools 1.51.024. can anyone confirm that this is a driver/vidtools version kinda thing?
I know, i should just go for trying the new drivers...just never get to it thinking i'll just do it when i format my drive sometime.
