  • Just timed some genomes

    I ran a 12 aa unit and a 99aa unit on my T-bird 1333.
    12 aa : 50 sec per sequence => 25 min per genome
    99 aa : 25 min per sequence => 12,5 hours per genome

The 12 aa genome gives 0,96 units which equals 2,3 units/hour
The 99 aa genome gives 29,45 units which equals 2,35 units/hour

    No difference what so ever.

Could someone do a similar test ?

Are you sure about 12.5 hours?

AXIA @ 11x138 is 9.5 hours for me.

Looking through scrlog.gah I noticed first half of the 99aa is 20-22 minutes per sequence, but the later half is 18 minutes per sequence (nothing else running).

I'm in the progress of programming a tool exactly for this purpose, a little like EM, but with more emphasis on benching, via readable logs (plus unlimited cpu-monitoring, not just 4 ).

Still in alpha, but keep an eye on this forum for the beta

          Some quick numbers:

          99aa genome:

          Athlon Classic @ 741: ~19:16 per genome
          Athlon Classic @ 1030: ~14:54 per genome

So I'd say 12:30 at 1333 seems about right.

Kim, my 11x139 is running ~9:57 for an 88aa, are you sure about your 9.5 hours?

EDIT! Scratch that Kim, just left my machine alone for a while, and I'm now at 8:28 for the 88aa, so you're probably right

I guess 9:36/37 is with nothing else running.

              What's your beef with the SL-75DRV ?
              I have a SL-75KAV and couldn't be happier.

The Swiftech MC462A doesn't fit very well, there's a thingamabob I've bent, bumped and sweared at to get it on (I'm surprised it still works).

ITE8705f hardware monitor chip and software that doesn't work in Win2K. Luckily MBM 5.08 supports it somewhat.

                AGP/PCI1/PCI5
                PCI2
                PCI3
                PCI4/USB

I'm all SCSI, but even though I disable integrated IDE to free IRQ 14 and 15 I can't force anything there. It won't do it

Don't get me wrong, it works. After all I'm running AXIA at 11x138 even though the MC462A and the thingamabob isn't on the best of terms (read: the fit could be loads better).

                That's about it

                Kim

Edit: The IRQ thing is annoying because I have an Adaptec 39160, and when you set IRQ to eg. 10 it puts channel B on the following IRQ hence it would be nice to be able to set it at 14.
It doesn't seem to do any harm sharing 11 with SBLIVE 5.1 (in software).

CHHAS, my comparison between a 36aa and a 96aa came out on an approximate:

                  - 0.84 for the 96aa per hour
                  - 0.64 for the 36aa per hour

                  My PC is a P3-450

That's one serious cooler, how can you stand the noise ?
You've paid almost as much for the cooler as I paid for my 1200C T-bird

Kim, why don't you try to force both of the Adaptec SCSI Card 39160/3960D - Ultra160 SCSI to IRQ 11, so you have IRQ10 free for the NIC?

                            I can't control it Jord.
What ever IRQ I assign it, the B channel gets the following IRQ.
It doesn't matter anyway, although SBLIVE and channel B share IRQ they don't share INT#.

The 3Com and the G400 share both IRQ and int# though, but it doesn't give me troubles. The 3Com NICs are very "sharing friendly" (I heard it on the Internet ).
