  • MS Pro and memory

I've recently upped my RAM from 128 to 384 Mb (profiting from the current low prices). I've found that editing using Media Studio Pro is much more comfortable on longish projects, with much less waiting time (now quasi-instantaneous) to see the image when I place the cursor at a specific point on the time line. Previously I had to wait anything up to a second or so (maybe because of more use of the swap file). I strongly recommend it.

On the last capture (nearly two h of video) with G-200 Marvel at 704 x 576 25 fps full quality, I had zero frame drops (except 5 at one point where I had taken the mini-DV tape out of the camera) using PC-VCR (and a Live! sound card, Doc). I got very few before the memory change, so I don't know whether this is just coincidence or also cause and effect.
