  • loss of color during software playback

Recently i've been trying to encode some saved mjpeg avi's as mpeg-1 files using bbMPEG, however, about a 1.5 minutes in i lose color in the mpeg-1 file during playback with media player which continues until the end. Now i've experienced loss of color with the original mjpeg avi during playback with media player but only when i've been concurrently using PC-VCR. Is there a workaround for this? Like i said, the original avi is fine so i think it is a software decoding/encoding problem. Any help is appreciated.

Seems like there's an increasing number of reports of this problem.

I suspect that it is akin to the green stripe that some people are experiencing, and the occasional jittering that is occasionally reported with G400's.

The only thing that I can suggest is to examine your MJPEG to find the "evil frame" that is causing the encoder to foul-up, and remove it.

Thanks for the help, I'll see if removing bad frames helps, that is, if I can keep MSP5.2 from crashing before I finish.
