  • Anachronox crashing every time

I have Matrox G400DH, and the latest 6.51 drivers. I start Anachronox, and after I start new game (in low-res mode)- it just kicks me back to desktop. I have the full install of the game under
    win98SE.

    Heeeelp!!!

P.S. Another game "Bang: Gunship Elite" also crashes in the same spot in "Mission one" every time.

Two different games crashing suggests a hardware, not software, problem-- especially if one game crashes in the same place all of the time.

Can you post your IRQ list?

And what is going on on the screen in Gunship Elite when the game crashes?

I won't start guessing without at least some information to back me up.

You should not have 2 IRQ holders for one device.
There is likely a duplicate or errant driver still loaded but not being used. This can cause stability problems.

I'd uninstall the G400's drivers with Matrox's uninstall util, set up to run in standard VGA mode, then boot into safe mode, look in the device manager, and remove any duplicate or incorrect entries that shouldn't be there. Once it's cleaned out in safe mode, go back to normal mode and reinstall your drivers.

          Thanks for the advice!

I Uninstalled drivers by using the Matrox's Uninstaller, then
re-installed v. 6.51.12 . Allthough I've still got 2 (two) IRQ holders for the graphics card - I've been able to start Anachronox, and get
into the gameplay (actually I've started the "anox_800gl.bat" file
in Anachronox folder). The 3D seems to be very fast on "Low -res" mode - I mean "Boots" just runs around so smooth and fast - its hard to steer him the right way!

P.S. I'm thinking maybe I do need 2 IRQ holders for the Dual Head feature?
