  • Incorrect Colours

I've been having this problem for as long as I've had my computer... whenever I watch any kind of movie it's very dark and hard to see on my monitor, but perfect on the TV when using TV out. I have a stupid 15" Acer monitor which has trouble with colours, it always makes things darker, so I have my "Color" tab with the gamma one step above, I think I just need a new monitor, because I also get crappy colours... on the TV the grass in Counter-Strike looks a very nice green, on the monitor it's a crappy green.
The thing I've been noticing though, is that when I am watching a DivX on my monitor it's very dark, then I make it full screen and the colour is perfect! then I wait about 5 seconds and it's dark again, I change from full-screen to windowed and it's great colour again, then 5 seconds later it's dark, then... yeah, well you get the picture.
Now I'm thinking it might be a driver problem and perhaps I'm doing something wrong... I mainly care about DivX, but also other formats like MPEG (which it happens in), if I could fix my CS that would be swoit too, though I think that's impossible without a new monitor.

I'm using the 3.11 Alpha DivX codec (because I've never been able to find/use any other)
I downloaded the GDivX codec, but I'm not sure how to install it.
I'm using WinME with the 6.51 drivers installed (it has always happened no matter the drivers).
    I have a G400 MAX.

    DivX

For DivX I would go to http://www.tac.ee/~prr/videoutils/ and check there.

A 5 second bright then dark again monitor change could be the monitor, but you could also try to disable your vsynch.

        change refresh ??

Hi Werdna, try increasing or decreasing your vertical refresh rate.

I have an old 14" Mag DX1495 that's too dark if set to 85 or 60 Hz but works perfect at 75 Hz. (800x600 same for 640x480)

              Another way

I also found that if I disable hardware support in WMP I get the correct colours with pixilation. Sometimes I prefer the colours.
