Just picked up some more ram.

I just picked up 256MB Generic PC 133 Ram from a local computer shop... I paid 125 Bucks Canadian for it.

I know that's a bit steep.. but I don't care too much about that... I went into the store and took it home and did it spur of the moment.... its the best way to shop.

Just wanted to say that it works fine.

Now I just have to pick up another stick (256MB) and redistribute some of the PC100 128MB sticks amongst the other machines...

My little brother is going to owe me big when he gets home.

Have you seen some generic PC166 SDRAM poping up lately? Good stuff. It´s guaranteed to do 166 Mhz (obviously cas3), but it´ll do nice things at lower speeds. I´m currently running 384 Mb of it at 144 Mhz 2-2-2 no problems at all. 650+ Mb/sec fpu bandwidth on SDRAM, baby

But for a cB0 Stepped Cellery II thats pretty good.

I will have to keep an eye out for it.. but up in this small town area its still unheard of (Well besides me and some other people) Most people up here don't know what FSB means or what the difference between PC100 and PC133.. as far as they are concerned.. its ram... that is all.

I kinda like it... people don't get all picky and whiney when they just want a system that runs reliably and faster than their P133 or P2-350 etc...

Makes working that much easier.

Hmmm... I wonder if I have earned enough credit at the store to ask for a 70% discount on another 256MB module.

(The first one I payed full price for but he was going to just give me a 128 but I wanted the 256... I know.. greedy... )

So that means I still have about 70 bucks worth of credit saved up... hmm... what to get.... I like the idea of the discount on the 256MB module though.

That is what I am going to work on I think... (Either that or save it for a Gigger Chip)

lol. My big bro and I were at a computer shop a few months ago when 128 megs of RAM was around $70. We were shocked at the prices, so he picked up 256 and I convinced him to buy me 128.

I live in a medium sized town, but LOTS of tech companies... so as far as they are concerned... there are HUGE differences in RAM... well that's kinda exaggerated, but you know what I mean.

That and I hate waiting. Ordering stuff to save a few bucks isn't worth it to me.

Paper - $1.00
Coffee - $1.30*5
Gasoline - $10
Fast Food - $15
etc. etc.

throwing away an extra 25 bucks to have something I want from a snap decision from a nice little local store doesn't seem so bad.

Now... the original 256MB (128*2) that I got in my computer when I first bought it (4 years ago almost) that cost more than 350 Bucks a 128MB chunk (That and the expense of the 350Mhz Pentium II chip when it first came out.) Was a waste

If it's took from crucial.com (even the canadian link) it's in US.... add 50% to that number and then import duties and tax on import duties..... that's gonna cost a lot more than just 75$.

Here i've managed to have a CAS2 256mb generic module for 90$ (tax inc.) the only things was that it did'nt ran at 160fsb even at CAS3.... so i kept my 2 old 128mb modules CAS3.

Plus you are quoting the lowest price that is Crucial DDR2100 Memory...

Seeing as if I bought that I would have to get a new Board and more than likely a new Processor (If I get a new board why not try AMD ) the cost would be lots more.

Like I said...

Less hassle just to walk in... pay a bit more and then go home... put it in and feel great... then you can get back to putting that ram into the computer...

Maybe let a little too much information get away with that one

I noticed your sig and I really think you could have spent your money more wisely, i. e. on a 17" monitor, because your system is quite good, it´s a shame that it´s being wasted on a 14" monitor... (and your eyes, too).

I didn't spend my money on my dual 14" monitors (one for each of my systems).. I picked those up for 5 bucks at an auction.

Originally I had a nice 17" monitor and a 15" I had for school. on one of my travelling trips (My last one back from school when I moved back home) the 15 bit the dust. And my 17 had been given to my little brother / Mom / and Dad (They all have worse eyesight then me and when I first moved I didn't want to cart it ~500 Km in our little Nissan Multi that we had at the time, cosidering I barely got all my stuff and the 15" in for that trip (The 15 was on my little brothers lap most of the way) and I really didn't have room for anything bigger at the house(cottage) I was renting.)

I never got around to replacing it. I am saving for a mid-range 19" monitor.. but being married and stuck in a crappy job for the moment... It has been put on hold.

14" ones aren't so bad anyways...

Ok... They are... but I am not complaining as I have nothing bigger here at the apartment to compare them too.
