It's very fast for me.

And I'm glad it is.. Is it only seven hundred more posts until I get to be a Super MURCer? :)

It's fast for me as well.
I don't lyke the new layout though, it'll take me a while to get used to.

Go MURC, we're back online !

Either I set something wrong in my presonal preferences, or that clock is still running at GMT+2 ;)

It looks ok, loads VERY fast and it`s different ... it`ll take time to get used to it ... but its cool nevertheless. ( Although i liked the prev. layout better. Was a bit simpler ... ):)

Working fast now must have been some other problem!

Ant - Good work! As we are now on a commercial server: does that mean you have to pay for everything (webspace , bandwith, ...) ??

Ant - I hope these questions are not too indicreet, but how much do the forums cost per month/year and what did you have to pay for the forum software ?

I don`t have a clue about these costs - therefore I am interested.

Really? Why? You could`ve asked someone to ... errrrm ... 'lend' the software to you :D

Ant

In total the hosting will cost me around $2000 a year I reckon depends on the bandwidth we consume which I won't be certain on for a while, GA would never provide me with server logs so I never knew before. The forum software was $160.

MK
3rd July 2001, 16:46
You pay $2000 a year for the MURC ? And you pay that by yourself ? From your private money ?

MK

SteveC
3rd July 2001, 16:50
he does indeed - and notice there's NO adverts on this site. I'm sure he'd love a lil' donation once in a while from some of us... Ant - paypal or whatever it is :)

MK

Ant & SteveC - How can I (we) support the MURC (and Ant of course :)) ?

MK

SteveC
3rd July 2001, 16:56
That's down to Ant to decide. I've given him a couple of ideas, any ideas you have would be great.

There's 8000 members now, If everyone (say 2000 still half-active members) gave $1 Ant wouldn't have to pay out of his own pocket then, would he?

MK
3rd July 2001, 17:00
SteveC - I was thinking about the same. But the problem is how to collect the money respectively how to send the money to him.

If I do an international money transaction, I have to pay $25 just as a bank fee. :(

Well, if you guys work out a way how to support Ant & MURC, i`m sure all of us would gladly donate a certain amount of ... whatever ... to help the site and the Forums going.

BTW Ant, i`m really lost for words ... i have never met a guy who spends $2000 a year and has no ( material ) gain from it ... guys like you restore the faith in humanity in me ... and i`m NOT joking, i am dead serious. I don`t know what to say ... thank you ...

Hmm...pretty fast here! The new layout looks good I guess, but will be hard to get used to (all the buttons and the date are at the bottom of the posts, instead of at the top, where they used to be). Now, I have to figure out this vB code...

At present everything is set to vBulletin's default settings, I'm sure over the coming weeks I will tinker with everything to make it a little more homely :)

This is my test I guess.

I'm still getting used to the new forum. But one big improvement is that you can switch the annoying sigs off.

Ant, you've outdone yourself here. The new forums are great. I really think you should get MURC a paypal account so those of us who wish to share your burden can. I am speechless at the generosity you've shown us all as a community, just speechless.. Thank you.
