  • When do reviewers get G550 samples ?

    Hi,

I`m interested in benchmarks of the G550 to know exactly how the card performs.

So when will the first reviewers get their cards and when can we expect the first
    benchmarks ?

Kruzin & Greebe - Sorry if I don`t get it, but are you not allowed by Matrox to post exact benchmarks or do you just don`t want to ?

We are not supposed to post specific numbers until the final product is reviewed by outsiders (Anand, Tom, etc) and scores posted around the net. Then we can show you the REAL scores from someone who knows how to set up a PC

We can give our general impressions though...

Plus our focus of testing is not to see how many mega frames per second we can get in Q3 but how well Q3 is dispalyed.

Well Joel.. to be frank(since he cant be here right now. hehe.), thats idiotic. My g400MAX displays q3 just fine. That shouldnt be an entire review. it should be a foot note: "yup, the g550 has the same great image quality as the g400. onto something else"

And we're in no way talking mega-frames per second when it comes to any Matrox-card and Q-III with decent quality-settings, it's more like micro-frames per second, esp. when there's a bit more action than in this dumb demo001...

Well then if that is the way y'all feel about it, then I won't say anything.

But then again I should because we don't need clueless reviewers, like Anand and Tom, giving y'all false info.

Hello class. The subject of today's lesson is beta testing. While many of you think beta testing is getting an early version of Doom 3 running on XP Build 2901, with a GF4 prerelease...benchmarking...boasting...blah, blah...and declaring that NVIDIA are about to rock the world...it sadly( ) is...not.

In fact, it's actually about testing beta stuff! (SHOCKER!!!)

Yea, there is problems in Q3, and many other games too. The beta testers get beta drivers, test them out, then tell Matrox what's wrong with them. There's no point displaying Q3 helluva vibrantly if your displaying it with 3 walls missing and dodgy 'shadery' character in the corner

Yea, believe it or not...but beta testing irons out these bugs! And we have the guys around these forums, and other guys too, and the whole Matrox tech support team to thank for having the most stable, reliable and feature-rich drivers around.

Homework: read up on what a real chip "generation" is, and I'll see you next week.

                            Class dismissed.
