  • Anyone tried this benchmark ?

    http://www.digit-life.com/articles/gf3glmark/index.html

I have a MAX and haven`t been able to finnish the loop without CTD(sorry, I lied-only in low-detail.
Also...I thought my MAX was EMBM compatible...not according to this OGL engine....

    It`s a...hmmm...nice...

EMBM has nothing to do with OGL... it's a DX thing only.

      (a) Greebe is entirely correct. EMBM has nothing to do with OGL. It is a D3D function.

      (b) We have a forum here just for benchmarks...therefore this thread is now relocated to the Benchmark forum...

Really? Could`ve sworn I`ve read this under the above link:

"It's clear that the EMBM is perfectly realized in the GLMark, and the NVIDIA GeForce3 supports this technology excellently. You must know also that the GeForce2 can't just do it. That's why there is nothing surprising in such gloomy water. And it's unclear why the RADEON didn't manage to realize its potential. There can be only two reasons:

        The RADEON drivers didn't realize the potential (we have already witnessed it once with the S3TC-technology);
The GLMark itself is guilty in case it puts the EMBM usage only in the section for the GeForce3."

        What now?

That article is not entirely correct ...

The GF3 uses Dot3 bumpmapping and that particular demo puts environment mapping on top.

I thought that the Geforce 3 could to EMBM... they just prefer Dot3

                Hey Toecutter,
Yeah, I'm quebecois, a 20-years old week-end barman . . . and soon a Cmputer engineering student at Sherbrooke University with the best Girlfriend In The World! (Sorry about that, but if I don't do it periodically, my GF start threatning me... ) ABout my G3, it's an engineering sample a friend of mine aquired at IDF (I wish I too could afford to go to all expos like him!)...

If you wanna see VERY nice water, download the 3DMarks 2001 movie from MadOnion.com... you'll see! EMBM is a pretty sweet technique, but nothing can look as good as a high-poly-count deformation of water...(OK, it would requires a few BILLIONS triangle per second, but darn that could be enjoyable...)

BTW, have you seen the mountains in GLMarks??? The last time I saw such nice mountains was in a voxel techdemo...

P.S.: I don't smoke (my GF dislike the idea of kissing an ashtray)and rarely drink...

                Francis

                    Hi,
Are Expendable/MDK2 Screenshots ok for you? (only games that will show the perfomance and quality difference...) I might post Evolva screenies if I can find that damn CD...

                    Looks for them tomorrow...

BTW, do I sound that stoooopid to you??? Do you think I'm the kind of guy who would use a G400 at 1600x1200 with no FPS count and say it was running at 60FPS... Think again!!! If I wanted to fool you, I'd at least use my L33T Photoshop skillz...

I managed to find my Expendable CD, which came bundled with my G400; 1)Installed it... 2)COnfigured it... 3)Got told "...works with Matrox hardware only...!"; 4)Downloaded the demo... 5)Installed the demo... 6)Configured the demo... 7)Launched the timedemo... 8)Took screenies... (Celeron 600@900 (sorry, the best CPU I have at home; you'll have to wait a little to get P3 800@1200 scores...), Asus CUSL2-M, 256 MB SDRAM, SBLive!... sorry to say, but your Expendable shots do not show EMBM ...

                            Maggi,
I just downloaded the Expendable demo and turned everything on... I know that the bumpmapping doesn't seem to be turned on at all, but it is... Also, I know it's not like the G400 edition water; I tried to run the G400 edition of expendable, but I always get the same message: "this version will run with MATROX hardware only...". If I get find some time, I'll post MDK2 screenies, if I can get it to work. Don't forget that the drivers I'm using are VERY buggy NEDs, as there are no official drivers yet...

BTW, tell me if the pix are still working, because they don't seem to be working from here... Anyone has an idea on how to run MDK2 on a GeForce 3??? Take a look at the 3rd screenshot...

Working like an Ant, kissing like a squid, and fragging like a king,
