  • B-b-b-but I want Aliens!

Everyone seems to be leaving seti for the Genome project.... should I?

Thing is - the few servers I run my SETI@Home on at work run the GUI version cos it just hides away to a little icon by the clock on the task bar... can I do this with the Genome project?

PS: Is it time for everyone to watch Contact again??

But SETI Driver also hides away in the tray by the clock! And it uses the CLI which runs much faster!

But the CLI also runs as a service, which doesn't even leave an icon and it connects to SetiQ and doesn't leave you wanting in case of an unlikely outage at Berkeley

Ye all miss my point - I run SETI because it just has that little icon and no more (I know I can get rid of it completely too - just never bothered).

I don't want to run the Genome project if I can't hide that away too...

Just got it, but so far Genome Voyeur (GV) has worked to hide the G@H client. You get an icon by the clock for GV. You can call it up by clicking on it, and/or hide/unhide the G@H client. Pretty cool!!!

PS- how do you run S@H CLI as a service instead of as an app. Then it would run without a user logged on, right?

Here's a link to the files I use at work to install Seti as a service on the odd computer that comes my way (takes less than a minute)
Only file missing is user_info.sah, which YOU supply.
The contained Readme!.txt is an excellent "short and to the point" example if I may say so myself.
But if you have any questions....

Oh, and yes, running as a service you don't have to log in to get it running.

              SetiService

              Edit: I didn't make any mistakes, I DIDN'T honestly
