  • SETI@Home on an IBM A/S 400?

Ok, I know nothing about IBM A/S 400's, but I might have a chance to get a used one here in a few days (I'm not quite sure how old it is). Basicially a company wants me to look at their old stuff and convert any of it to Windows 9x that I can. They've got a couple of IBM P-100 workstations (no prob..just more memory, bigger hard drive, and a new modem--Of course they still won't scream) and an A/S 400 (since been relpaced by a newer one). I don't know what model it is yet. I don't even know what OS the run on those things! I figure (hope) that either I can just clean up the OS that's on there or find some flavor of Linux for it. Does anyone know anything about these?

I'll post more once I've seen it, found a model number or something, and have consulted the IBM pages. (And if I can even get a hold of it)

    Maybe OS/2?!?!

It looks like a Linux port to the AS/400 may be in the works... This could be interesting any which way... Now where's that native SETI@Home AS/400 client?

      Charles,
There seems to be a IBM AS/400 client available now. Check out the readme file at: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/README.AS400.txt
      The software is at:
      ftp://ftp.cdrom.com/pub/setiathome/SETI400v24.savf
