  • Has Anyone Tried this?

Went to the Team Lamb Chop page where they offered some speed tips. Supposedly the Xeon processor with a 1MB cache is the fastest processor to use, since the cache can hold the whole instruction set. This made me wonder.. has anyone used a Pentium Pro with the 1MB cache for SETI? These can be purchased relatively cheaply on Ebay now, and with the cache and processor running at 233Mhz, it might be a big performer for the price. Anyone have access to one of these processors? Tried them with SETI? If so how about some benchmarks? It won't be as fast as a newer processor, but for the price of upgrading an old PPro system, it might be a big surprise.

        LOL
I just picked up a P Pro Motherboard off E-Gay for $28... Now i just need a CPU (and a PCI Vid Card)

Those PP200 w/ 1 meg cache look nice, but are really expensive.
