I joined seti and murc 2-3 days ago and have done 4 units, but i cant se that murc has received my credits, what am i doing wrong

Your credit: JSB Work units sent 3 Results received 4

Your group info:
You belong to the group named: Matrox Users

You are not currently the founder of any teams.

Hecubus

The list only shows the top 100 users and I hear it is only updated once a day. The minimum units completed for anyone on the list is currently at 2, so maybe last time it was updated you had 2 or less units completed? Just a possibility.

This SETI@HOME thing gave me an idea..

How about a similar system to achieve something that is actually useful.. like rendering raytraced pics/animations.. Now wouldn't that be nice?

Hi JSB

I'm not 100% sure, but open the internet options go to the connections tab open the settings of your default connection and in the advanced Dial-up settings check the 'disconnect if idle for ## minutes' checkbox.

That should disconnect you even if your card or ISP isn't able to do that http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif

Helmchen

jsb
25th September 1999, 11:49
Thanks, but that is not possible with this card, the option is greyed out, so no go. Itís a Diva pro 2.0. Any other suggestions ?

jsb
25th September 1999, 16:53
Thanks i can see it now http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif
I have an ISDN card that doesn't have the option to disconnect after N minutes, dose anyone know about a utility that can handle this? Its killing my seti stat that i have to manually connect and disconnect. Basically a dunes but for win 98.

Do you mean Eicon Diva ISDN T/A? If it's that, I know how to do it but Pro..?
Do you know that T/A?

B

jsb
27th September 1999, 01:51
Buuri,
I donít know what T/A is? This card is a Eicon Diva Pro 2.0 PCI, itís a active ISDN card with its one DSP and 80k memory, how do you do it with T/A maybe I can do it the same way?

Buuri
27th September 1999, 02:14
T/A means Terminal Adapter.
Ok, do you have "Eicon Diva T/A ISDN Modem" software installed? You can adjust many settings of Eicon modems by that. It's available from their site.
I've played with external Divas only, so I don't know about the one you have but I'd give it a try.

How many computers does nitRAM have working on this project! Makes me seriously think about taking over my network on weekends, etc.

after a week without finnishing a WU I gave up

We've picked up some more users in the last week
but the number of people in the Forums to people in our group is still very low

Come on people join or else...
no stable drives for you...oh wait
no good NT drivers...oh thats not a good threat
you won't get a MAX at retail...no, no
Well just join anyway!!! http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/smile.gif

Guyver,

I also lost a lot of steam cause I was moving(my computer was packed away for the last week and 1/2)

I was also off from work and both my computers here were shut down. So the only one running was a PIII-550. I'm gonna have to try hard to catch up now!!!

Congrats on movin up, Guyver and Maggi!!

And Happy B-Day sometime soon Maggi (can't remember the exact date, but I think we were supposed to have a party somewhere... LOL!)

BTW, I'm officially 30 now... Ughhh!!

Guyver

I know what it's like to lose steam.. I wasn't running it on my home system for about 3 weeks.

Now I've got it running on my home PIII450@600, my work PIII600@672, ahem, a couple of K6-2 350 running SCO, and a quad Pentium Pro 200 running SCO. That's all the systems... The PPro is only run over weekends.

I will probably be passed again in the near future, but the view is nice here. Can't wait to see what it looks like from 6 or higher....

All your p3/600+ makes my p2/450, k6 and p200 seem very small and underpowered.

My 5th place now looks very dodgy, I wonder if my boss will authorise an upgrade for my pcs.
(well i can dream!)

Guyver
6th October 1999, 09:51
Just do what I did, buy something for home use, be disapointed in it's performance then take it to work and use it there...

Let's face it, almost anything you work with at home (if you are a sick -<read as speed crazed>- individual such as myself http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif) is going to be more powerful than anything anyone works with at work. In my case I've got around 300Mhz to spare before the 2nd place machine at work. That includes all the servers.

Since I'm the SA for the company - I don't think anyones gonna say anything... The executable is disguised as one that normally runs on the system. Nobody has yet asked why 1 of the 4 processors is constantly in use over the weekends http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/wink.gif... (keyword YET)...

Nah - BORG drones are cooler, and not as strong. Besides, I get annoyed by that silly bionic sound effect - and the way running in slow-motion can make you seem to be running 60+ MPH (someone else can do the KPH conversion)

I used to enjoy the $6 million dollar man and bionic woman. But ever since they made Sandra Bullock bionic (she could run over 300MPH), I gave most of it up.

Sandra Bullock...bionic...over 300MPH?

Did I miss something in my mis-spent youth?

Sure did...

It was done after the Bionic Reunion.

The title of the episode/movie was "The Bionic Showdown".

An evil government agent (the hero from Forever Knight) has been givn bionic abilities. A girl wheel-chair bound from birth (Sandra Bullock) is given a new form of bionics to allow her to walk/run for the first time (something about bone grafts, titanium infusions into the structures, bionic capilaries, etc...) anyway, she's called into action to prevent a seemingly bionic assassin from messing up the indoor olympic/goodwill games track meet.

She goes head on with the bionic bad-guy and with a little help from the obsolete duo, manages to foil the bad guys plan, and look good in a skimpy leotard at the same time.

Gawd, it is close up here at the top - 4 of us within 7 units of each other! I can only say that it is a good thing my old work haven't taken SETI@Home off one of their servers... Anyways, now I'm back on the case here, it'll be another 2 and a bit units a day....

Beep Beep, Hec waves while passing by...

Segue to a brightly lit conference room with a nervous Hecubus surrounded by upper management types.
Management: So, how is the new server installation progressing?
Hecubus: Fine, just burning in the hardware. I'm "testing" it with a very computationally intensive distributed computing algorithym.
Management: And your expected cutover date is..?
Hecubus: Oh, sometime after the Murc pounds everyone else into the dust! Oops, I mean next week. Yeah, that's it, next week...

Hee hee hee, actually I have two new servers and I only need one right away so I will keep crankin those units out for awhile, then I should start dropping off the top ten.

By the way, If I don't get some action for Quake3A or Unreal Tournament at 209.150.197.110, I am going to turn that box into a seti machine as well. And that would make me sad. http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/frown.gif

Grrrrrr - some schwine just rubbed in with
a very nice 800+ to kick me back to 3!

What I need is more committment from my machines, instead i get slovenliness and backchat. Time for the whip methinks.

Is anyone else being slowed down by "failure to connect" problems. I keep haveing to try to jump start the send/receive proccess manualy.

Man, this thread is getting long!

To stop the no connect problem, just run a batch prog with a time delay
----
:loop
SETIAT~1
b waitfor 30
goto loop
----

b.exe is batchman 1.1 from PC Magazine (1998!).
There are other sharewares about which do a similar function.

This hasn't let me down yet.

Or do as I do, and use a neat unix box to collect units up to a level of 12 at a time
for my machines to download from. The unix box is on a fat part of the net.

Thats why my numbers jump up 12 at a time now and again cos the machines all sync on pulling units (and putting results back).

3 more have arrived heheh - so more more more

I have the same problem every 2-3 day, its really frustrating coming to work and find that a unit have been ready since late last night and not sent. I thought this was a problem with my ISP or something, but if more of us have the same, cant some clever guy explain exactly how to solve this.
What are you guys doing to optimise your seti under win98? Think I read somewhere that there was a script thing that made it a bit faster?
