$2000 worth of system and $14,500 worth of TV? I think maybe I'll just build the PC and then buy a widescreen high-definition TV for $5000, saving myself about $10,000.

...but still, sweet monitor. I think they'll be in a sane price range within a year or two. Can't wait. Mmmmm, tv on the ceiling...mmmm.

LOL.. its hard to condense the plasma anymore. If they squish more in they might get a higher resolution

Monitors like these are primary intended as a public monitor; to show presentations and such.
For that, you don't need a higher res.
And there where some technical limitations, if I remember it correctly...

I stand corrected. I went out to Viewsonics website, http://www.viewsonic.com/productwiza...fm?results=yes and found this bit of info.

Its high brightness and contrast ratio, along with a 160° viewing angle, display brilliant images in any setting. Offering a wide XGA (1,280 x 768) resolution up to UXGA (1,600 x 1,200) the VPW500 creates clear, well-defined video and data images.
