  • Problem playing DVDs in W2000

When i play DVDs in the w2k, the picture is not moving smoothly all the time.
I had the same problem in w98 but I fixed it
    putting DMA on(cd-rom properties).

But, how can I fix this in w2k
    I have G400 and Toshiba sd-1212(32x/6x)...

    HELP!

I have exactly the same hardware and problem. I canĀ“t seem to be able to install the matrox DVD player but I can use software players like PowerDVD to play DVD through my DualHead card but horribly slow since it can not use the hardware!!! Please help us!!
I also have G400DH and Toshiba sd-1212 (worked fine on w98)

Go to Control Panel / System / Hardware /Device manager.

You should see a line IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers (or very similar)

Open this up and you will see all your IDE controllers.

pick the one with your DVD attached to it - double click.

In Advanced Properties it will tell you the status of both channels on the IDE controller.

Set Transfer Mode to 'DMA if available' and reboot.

It has probably set it to PIO Mode Only as it didn't rfecognise your drives.
