System Req's to capture MPEG4 in full rez

Can some one who is capturing directly to MPEG4 using a RR-G/G400 based system indicate what CPU, etc. they have in order to capture full resoltion (640x480)?

I have a PIII 600MHz. I record at 352x288 without a problem. If I record full res, I also get some 30% dropped frames.

I am watching the TV and it's worthless.
If I switch it on it is even worse.
