  • Marvel & Zoran

I know that this problem is nothing to do with video editing, but being a specialist Matrox users site, I'd be grateful if anyone can help me with this.
After upgrading my Powerdesk & video tools drivers,(433m & vt121) I get a Windows 'blue screen' "fatal exception OD has occurred at VXD CCAD (01)+ 000002DE. The current application will be terminated". This happens as soon as the Zoran SoftDVD player starts to play a DVD.
I've tried doing a clean uninstall of powerdesk & video tools as instructed on the Matrox site, & then reinstalling from my original setup disk. (I have a marvel G200 AGP)
Powerdesk & video tools setup fine, but when I then follow on with Zoran, the install gets almost to the end (Install progress meter at 100%) the 'fatal exception screen'blights my day again.
I've tried reinstalling Windows98, but the problem persists. I've also tried copying the file from the disk to my HDD, & run install from there in case the disk is damaged.

Please please please, any ideas anyone?

I've got a couple of suggestions. Firstly, there are some suggestions in the FAQ for the site that might help. Secondly, don't feel restricted by the Matrox DVD offering (unless you have the Matrox DVD hardware decompressor card). There are many other products out there that are quite happy to work on a software basis with yur DVD. I think (as usual) that everyone here will offer a valid alternative, but I have always found that PowerDVD works well. It's also easily adaptable for different zoned DVDs (which is ultra important if you live in Europe and are over a year behind current US releases, or if you are an Anime fan)

If you haven't found the "host" site yet, please go www.desktopvideoworld.com and see what you've been missing

Idiot, (I fell such a FOOL calling you that!)

Thanks for the reply. You're right, plenty of good tips in the FAQs. Some of which I've tried already after seeing them on the Matrox site.(Thought: Why do we indulge in this sado masochist thing called Desktop video?) You mention powerDVD. can you let me know where I can get this from?

      Thanks again,

      Arthur.

        Idiot,
Can you also tell me which version of PowerDVD I should be using? And which in your opinion would be the best version of PD & VT for me?

        Cheers, Arthur.

I don't have PowerDVD loaded at the moment, so I can't tell you what version I used. It must be getting on for a year back though, so anything like a recent release should be fine. It's also easily region changeable (if you are cursed with not living in the US, or if you are cursed with living in the US and are an anime fan).

Try a few websearches and see what you can find - my investigations led me to plenty of places of interest..

Oh, and most folks around here call me Chris.
