  • Its Time! ..Who should be the next President?

I know that a vote is cast in secret but let it out! I want to know what the Murcers want in a president! Should our President be chosen because he did well on a TV show? (Debates) What do you think, and who is your man? Nadar? Browne? Gore? Bush? Buchanan?

I for one am not a socialist so the choice is simple. Bush and Gore are running around bribing the zoned out American population with their own Money. (Tax $) This is the last straw for me. The surplus is overtaxation. Bush Sr. and Klintoon raised taxes to balance the budget. The budget is balanced. Give the money back. Its like you paying for linch with 50.00 on a 30.00 check and the waitress wonders how to spend the "surplus".
I am supporting Patrick Buchanan. (sign in the yard!) Independence Forever!

No, actually it's more like I never received the money that was originally intended for me and now that it was finally given to me, I am being forced to give it back. <sigh> This thread will never end. Bush is an idiot that shows selfishness, egotism and basically doesn't really care for most people. Frankly, I don't really think he understands people's REAL needs. If the Reagan/Bush administration is any indication of what's to come, we are all screwed. I don't know all of the issues yet, but I know what I don't like.

i do not like either of the two "main" choices.gore scares me because of his wife and her stance on censorship and burning books. bush scares me because of what his daddy and ronnie did to the economy.

I agree with Kindness that there should be a flat tax. Based on gross income without write offs. If that was the case and major corporations shared in the tax burden equally then the flat tax rate could be lower than what Kindness proposed.

I wish everyone would read this piece written in 1958. Makes you really think. I am always amazed that Americans are favoring Socialism these days. The Democrats are pure socialistic supporters. Big goverment, send all your money to Washington and let them decide what you get back. What the hell is a "Targeted Tax Cut" ? A Tax cut that lets the goverment decide who "deserves" it. Which is "redistribution of wealth" Socialism. If everyone pays taxes then they ALL should see THIER (not the goverments) Money sent back to them. That is everyone!

I wish folks would look deeper into what is going on in this election. The two party system has shut out all discussion that is not Fluff. Since when is it a right in America to have free presciption drugs? When did this become a crisis? (In the Media)

Al Gore is a liar and a lowlife. It was hime who said that Bill Clinton was on of the greatest Presidents of all time. I still want to know why he go away with the slaughter of Yugo. (can't spell) people and where is the proof of the ethenic slaughter in Kosovo? We sent in FBI forsenic experts and they found 2000 graves. Clinton bombed Aspirin factories and some tents in the desert. And no one cared! Wake the F*&k up America before its too late!

I'd just like to make sure that everyone is aware that the income tax is unconstitutional. There are no laws that can possibly hold up the income tax. The only form of tax in this country that has specific allowances made for it in the constitution is a tax on sources of foreign income. There are many people who play exactly by the rules and haven't payed taxes in years.

Taxmen know the truth about it, but they aren't going to tell you about it, cause they're scared. The IRS can't do a thing about it though if you play by the rules. Research the laws carefully and it's possible and actually quite easy to get around the non-existent laws. And if the IRS wants to audit you, let them.

On another note. I have an extreme dislike for the "Democratic" party. I despise Social Security. Medicare is one of the stupidest ideas the government has ever implemented(second only to Social Security). The democrats want far too much to mess in our lives and stick their noses where the don't belong. I mean, what the heck? Gore wants to spend MORE money?!?! That surplus shouldn't even exist, they shouldn't have taken that money from us in the first place. Pay off the national debt, slash spending, shrink the government by about a hundred fold, and stop taking our money.

                          Ok, several thoughts:

                          1. The president has no real power unless he exercises his veto power (which all presidents since FDR have been reluctant to do) or starts a war.

                          2. We don't elect the president. If 100% of voters voted for Buchanan, it wouldn't matter - since the ELECTORS elect the president, and all of them are either republican or democrat. Therefore who you vote for doesn't matter even a little bit. Yes, I'm being fatalistic.

                          3. HedsSpaz is correct - technically, the income tax is entirely illegal. There are ways to get out of it entirely, however it isn't as easy as he implied.

                          4. What are the choices now? Lessee...

Bush may be dodgy, but I personally don't care even a little bit whether my president has snorted coke or smoked pot. Doesn't bother me even a little. I DO care about Gore... and I'll tell you why...

                          1. Gore's wife led one of the single most successful censorship campaigns of the last 20 years. In the words of the famed muse... "Tippy Gore, SNIFF MY ANAL VAPOURS!" The woman is tied with Martha Stewart for consideration as the antichrist.

                          2. Gore wants to eliminate all automobiles. He is so environmentally slap-happy that he fails to exercise any common sense. I like my BMW, thank you very much. Try to take it away from me and you will discover that it can be used as a deadly weapon.

                          3. Gore is a liar, a cheat, and a crook. Bush has yet to prove himself to be a criminal, whereas Gore has already illegally solicited funds, mismanaged government money, and generally been a dishonest fellow.

                          4. Gore supports Clinton. This should automatically disqualify anyone from the office of president for life.

                          5. When asked to prepare a report on how the government wastes money, Gore printed thousands of copies (many of which are now in landfills) of a document which was thousands of pages long. All this document did was tell us "government wastes money". Wowee! We didn't already know that, Al! We didn't know that the government pays $2000 for the same toilet seat that costs us $20. Honest! Thanks for your effort!

                          6. Al Gore is an Alien. We have proof.

As for the other candidates... Nader is an alright fellow but I disagree strongly with many of his viewpoints - and not even his political ones.

                          Buchanan is a Nazi.

The only guy I've heard that I like is that libertarian fellow whose name eludes me, and I don't even know if he's officially running or not.

                          *shrug* NOT that it matters.

                              Gurm:
Your Electoral College comment made me curious so I checked out a few things. One thing that I found out was that Independent candidate H. Ross Perot received 19,741,065 popular votes for President, but no electoral votes. When I read your comment about Buchanan getting 100% of the vote and still not getting elected, my BS detector went off. After actually checking it out I could find no argument that would dispute the statement. I have to admit that I have never given it much thought because there has never been a third party candidate that has had a REAL chance of getting the majority of the popular vote. But, if the unthinkable DID happen how would the electoral college handle it? I thought that I was up to speed on the EC. I know what it is, and how it works but I don't know how they account for third parties. If someone out there knows, I'd be interested in hearing about it (YES, it has been a slow day).
