I could care if it gets unlocked, but if it does, everyone PLEASE keep it in one place so we can ignore it if we so desire.

    That's just common courtesy.

I know I haven't been around here all that long, but it seems to me that these forums work on a supply and demand principal. Unless there is something really destructive going on (like Unexplained) I see no reason to deleted or lock a thread (at least in TSB). The other forums need to be kept on track and on topic but TSB doesn't need that little extra hands on attention. If people WANT to bring up old threads, and others seem to jump on them and keep them at the top then why lock them down? Just let it go and it will run it's course (again). If nobody responds it will drop off of the screen in a few days anyway. I for one found them to be rather entertaining since I wasn't around for their first go 'round.
Lighten up and let them play. That's what this forum is for.

OH NO , I mean, wouldnt be better to allow this foolishness in one spot rather than taking over/ polluting the whole TSB?

I'll vote in general for as little intervention by the Moderator as possble. Other forums are technical. This one, IMO, is to let people discuss almost anything they want without worry. If they can't do it here, it will end up in other more technical places. (There should be no rule against idiocy. )

A free hand without allowing pornography, extreme vulgarity, extreme profanity would be my wish. Other than the pornographic content, it seems like these are automatically taken care of by the software.

As far as disagreeable content (e.g., jokes concerning pedophiles, etc.) there is too much in personal taste and opinions involved to call it anything but censorship to delete that sort of thing. Management must have a firm policy on what it considers disagreeable content and stick to it (hopefully that is what this thread is about). The result of this policy will be to drive away some people who desire no or less censorship. Too much and no one will post.

It seems to me Joel, that the needed compromise is in your hands. Recognize your personal predjudices (in the general sense) and don't let them interfere with your judgement.

All in all, don't worry, you'll do fine.

The thread is back so there is no more need for this thread.
