this is probably an extremely bad idea, but i thought it would be nice to know the face of the person you are replying to looked like. not that we would use it as an excuse to use the ' aesthetic ' faults of a person against them. we soon find out how ugly people are thru their posts.
its just an idea, but i think photos in the profiles (especially of the 'murcCer's' & 'moderators') would be a nice touch.
ease up guys, don't flame me yet, i'm jut testing the waters ok.

Welllllll, so much for sending this over to the Site Feedback forum (where it should have been posted in the first place)--- *sigh*

Anyway, even if we wanted to do so, I suspect that server space (profiles are kept on the server and we have over 5000 members!!!!) and the hideous load times would preclude this... I'm not certain, but I'd think that the profiles of everyone who's posted in a thread must be in some kind of buffer, since when you point at the profile icon, the poster's nick is inserted and it pops right up in a new window...

Just think what that would mean in a thread of some hundreds (heck, some tens, even) of posts...

Isn't the slowdown from:[list=1][*] the ad server;[*] the pictures posted in the thread itself[/list=a] enough?

And don't even get me started on sound files...

Just a concept...

.... but maybe an "About Us" page might be OK, if Ant agreed (and has a little extra space, lol)

oops, sorry Holly, i just didn't think... and here i was thinking i was posting in the right forum and being a good boy. perhaps i should have said 'limited' use of pictures in the forum... i thought the profiles was a good area for them because i didn't think it was accessed to the same extent as the general posting area. when i mean pics i mean small ones like large icons to give a general idea of 'how they look'. i guess if ya don't have the space for a standardised pics, fair enough. i was just an idea after all.
