Teletext is finally working correctly, but when I want to see 16:9 fullscreen, it shows it as 4:3, or is this a display driver issue?

unfortunately, RRICMEXT.dll is still causing its same old fun and games when capturing at desktop resolutions higher than 800x600 - garbled frames, black and white, results in a crash in Ulead Mediastudio. Interestingly, and I'm not sure if this is the same as before, the files play back 'okay' in PC-VCR.

        Coolfish,

Could you post your system configuration and the circumstances in which the .dll is causing problems ?

        System configuration meaning:
Components, OS, DX version, PowerDesk version and the programs you use in NLE ?

          Hi to everybody,
I'm new here, even if I've been lurking this place for a long time, I found a lot of solutions to my problems here...
I decided to register and write because I experience the same problem of Coolfish: my videos are normal until a frame qith garbled colors, and then they turn B/W. I can see it in the timeline of Mediastudio 5.2 (which crashes with a GPF on RRICMext.dll when these frames are displayed), while in media player everything seems OK.
          My configuration:
          PIII @ 500Mhz
          128Mb
          Abit Be6
IBM DJNA 13.5Gb, connected on the UDMA66 controller
          G400 32Mb DH * RR/G
          SB Live! 1024
          Win 98 SE
          PowerDesk 5.41
          VideoTools 1.52.033
          DirectX 7

I hope someone can help me...
          Greetings,
          Jigsaw

            Jigsaw,

Did you uninstall the previous VT:s before installing the new one ?

The best procedure for loading the new drivers, is to:
Use "add/remove programs" in Control Panel for the VT.
Use the Matrox uninstaller to remove the PD.
Select Standard PCI VGA drivers at start-up.
Install the latest VT compatible PD.
            Install VideoTools.
            Run Matrox HD Benchmark.
            Run Quick Connect.
            Configure PowerDesk settings.
Open PC-VCR and configure the settings.

What are you using for source, and where are you located ?

              system components:

              abit bp6 dual celery 366's.
              128mb RAM
              g400/rrg
              40gigs.
              sb live!
              Win98SE
              linux (dual boot)
              dx7.0a
              pd 5.41

I capture with PC-VCR (although i'm experimentign with Virtual Dub et al). Playback with MS Media Player results in garbage display. Playback in PC-VCR is good-very good (no or very little artifacts). When loading avi into Ulead MS Pro 5.5VE video editor, upon scrolling past the garbage frame(s), the error pops up, crashing Ulead. This is all, of course, in Win98. I should mention that the garbage frames occur mostly when desktop res is at my normal settings (IE 1280x1024, 32bit). They occur much more rarely in 800x600x16bit.

to install the new drivers, I used the Matrox Uninstall utility that wipes out all Matrox files. Then installed w98_541 and then vidtools 1.52.

                Hi Coolfish,

could you please deinstall the Video-Tools without the Matrox Uninstall Utility and then after a Windows-restart, reinstall them again ?

I´m using a Marvel G400 with SBLive, W98 SE and DirectX 7.0a like you and here the problems that you have described are totally gone.

                Bye, Uwe.

I have uninstalled all ther old driver including the vidtools... I installed the new drivers (marvel 400tv) and the new vidtools.... I still cannot take a snapshot at the highest resolution...... it is very blury/garbled... as with the old drivers, if I uncheck the high-jpg quality box in the advanced popup, the snapshots are ok...

otherwise the new drivers/vid tools seem fine

                  btw, WHAT IS TELETEXT???

                  TIA

                    Hi Grepman,

did you press the "Pause"-button before the "Snapshot"-button ?
This normally should help a lot.

                    Bye, Uwe.

                      Grepman,

That is how it is supposed to work.

The "High-Quality snapshots for still video" is intended for taking HQ snapshots of still standing video. If you use it for moving video, the result will be as you describe.
(Hint, you can also Pause live video)

                        Grepman,

Teletext is a European thing, it's information text that appears scrolling ontop of your screen.

Pertti, Uwe.. please correct me if I'm wrong

I've only seen it once in Germany a while back.

                        Regards,
                        Elie

Teletext is an outdated slow twenty year old information system for TV's and looks like this:
