  • G400MAX Lock my computer

I have a G400 MAX, it always lock my Windows, some time it lock when the Window startup process finish. It's better when a remove my UDMA/66 card. But lock up problem still happen one to two time everyday. It also lock after 2 to 3 min after I start some 3D games like Re-Volts and Sega Rally 2. But the problem totally solved by disabling Bus Mastering. And I have no IRQ conflict or sharing for the G400 graphic card.
How can I solve the problem? Is there any problem if my SB Live share IRQ with my network card?

    My config is:
Asus P3B-F, PIII-500MHz, 128MB Ram, SBLive Value DE (Liveware 3.0), I-will Ultra DMA/66 IDE controller card, IBM UDMA/66 18GB Harddisk, 3Com 3C905 Network card, Chinese Win98, DirectX 6.1 (Chinese Version),

    Absolutely.
Any IRQ conflict can lead to all kinds of wierd things happening.
When I moved my system from a BH6 to a BE6, i didn't notice that my NIC and my SB Live were sharing an IRQ. I didn't notice any problem until I started playing Q3Test online, and my ping was around 500ms with 50% packetloss. After I juggled the PCI cards I found a combo that didn't conflict, and all was good.
So definately remove _any_ IRQ conflicts, either by juggling cards around or disabling things you don't need (USB, serial ports, etc).
The easiest way to diagnose problems like this is to remove all unncessary cards from your computer and slowly introduce them. i.e. remove the SB Live, NIC, and UDMA controller, and see if everything works. Then introduce the UDMA controller. Then the SB Live, then the NIC, all one at a time. That should let you figure out which card is causing the problem, and you can focus your efforts on that one.

Just make sure that the AT/66 controller card is not sharing an IRQ with the USB controller.
