  • Win98 and Win98SE locks in shutdown process with G400Max

    Hi!
I´m in trouble with my new G400 Max board.
When i shutdown my windows, the computer completely hangs! The screen get dark with a mouse cursor, but no movement, no keys, nothing! Only a cold reset work!
I´ve tried to install the news drivers, certified drivers, re-install Windows in a empty HD, but nothing resolve the problem.
    I have:
PC Chips 577 Mother Board with VIA Chipset, K6-2 400MHz, 128MB Ram, Windows 98SE.
With my old V770 board, i don´t have any problem.

    Hi,

Do you have all the proper patches for your motherboard (4 in 1 patch from via)? Also when you installed windwos, did you make sure that USB was enabled?

Finally, you may give the shutdown patch from Microsoft a try...

I tried the shutdown patch, but doesn't work... And the 4in1 is just for Win95 & Win98. With the Win98 SE it's just necessary the AGP driver and the IDE driver.
      You have the same problem?

        Hi,

Nope I have no problems on my side on 3 different computers. A friend of mine had a problem with a Viper770 ultra, change to a G400, still same problem.. so it might not be related to matrox... I think he solved it now, i will try to ask him tomorow and I will let you know!
