  • How exactly does DVDmax work?

I'm just curious as to how exactly DVDmax works. I pop a DVD into my DVD-ROM, switch to DVDmax dualhead mode, start up the matrox DVD player, and there it is, fullscreen on my TV. Neat. How does it tie together though? What lets you do this fullscreen movie playback? Is it a function of the DVD player software (doubtful, since Matrox didn't develop it)? Is it something to do with reading a DVD stream off of a DVD disc? For example, if I stick a VCD into my DVD-ROM and play it from the Matrox DVD player, will i get ... VCDmax? If I used a different DVD player software, would DVDmax still work? And what I'd really like to know, is if you have an MPEG or ASF file on your hard drive, is there anyway to get the equivilent of DVDmax while playing that?
    Thanks.
