  • [Q] How: Custom 1360x1024x32bpp mode for the G400

Few days ago, someone pointed me to the download area of this site, where I found a reg patch for a custom 1280x960 mode. I'd like to have a 4:3 aspect mode with slightly more vertical pix, though. 1600x1200 is too high-res for my 21" monitor and 1280x1024 is not 4:3.

PD5ResManager does not work, because my card is at the 0001 position (no more reinstalling, please

I am not afraid of editing the relevant reg-keys, but there are some hex settings for timings that I do not unserstand.

How can I set such a new mode?

Request to Matrox dev team: Please make a res builder. Elsa already has one.

Go to the Screen Adjustment dialog box, and you can define any resolution you like - the basic CRTC parameters at a refresh rate of 60Hz will be auto-calculated, and you can then fine-tune them in the usual way in PowerDesk.

Worked like a charm! Thanks a lot.

Thought you might want to know that 1360x1024 does not have the 1:1 pixel aspect ratio that you're trying to achieve. (Close, but no cigar; it's very slightly tall.) You might want to try one of the following instead:

        - 1312x984
        - 1344x1008
        - 1376x1032
        - 1408x1056
        - 1440x1080
        - 1472x1104
        - 1504x1128
        - 1536x1152
        - 1568x1176

All of the above have the advantage of having the horizontal resolution be a multiple of 32, which in my experience works better with PowerDesk -- especially when you use PixelTOUCH (hardware zoom).

I second that, and use 16:9 ratios if you are looking for widescreen fun, like dvds.
