  • IRQ sharing, good or bad?

    Hi there

My Millennium G200 AGP is sharing IRQ 5 with my USB controller. Is this a good thing? Windows reports no conflicts.

I do have a free IRQ (9) to move to if it's bad, but I'd rather keep it free, cos I've got a network card to put in, and if I have to use up that IRQ for VGA, I'll have to lose a serial port.

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Archie

    Not easy to anwer!

    If it works it's good!
If it doesn't work it's a driver issue that doesn't belong to Matrox G200, for me IRQ-sharing worked well! (up to 4 devices - G200, USB, WinTV, SCI on IRQ 9)
You can try other combinations of sharing if you experience problems.

IRQ-sharing is part of the PCI-specification, since PCI uses max 4 IRQs (INT A - D).
