  • DVD playback using G200 & PD5.13

When I was using Powerdesk 4.51 DVD playback using Cinemaster was perfect, however now that I have switched to Powerdesk 5.13 I get "jaggies" on the edges. I thought enabling sub-pixel accuracy would help since Cinemaster is (I think) using DirectX to display the video, but it hasn't helped at all.

Has anmyone else experienced this and/or does anyone know of a fix? Maybe I have to wait for another Powerdesk?

    System spec:
    Celeron 300a running at 464MHz
    Abit BH6 mobo
    256mb PC100 SDRAM
    Matrox Millenium G200 AGP 8mb
    12GB Quantum HDD
    Creative 5x DVD drive

I have the exact same problem. I also experiencing glitches (image tearing) in fast moving scenes. I switched back to Cinemaster engine 1.0.29 (from 1.0.32), and it was better, but still far from good. So I reinstalled Powerdesk 4.51 and Cinemaster 1.032 engine, and everyting went back to normal...
One thing I forgot to check: I don't know if Powerdesk 5.13 has VSync enabled by default or not, but it maybe worth checking, because it can produce tearing effects.

When I remove Powerdesk 5.13 it seems to break my DVD player and I can't play DVD's anymore without serious re-loading of software etc. Did this happen to you too?

No, I didn't have this problem. What is your interface to the Cinemaster engie? I'm using the QI Cinemaster DVD player 1.6.

My Software Cinemaster engine is 0.96 (multi region version ;-) ) I think.

It must be something specific to the powerdesk drivers, because I don't have to change anything to get perfect results on PD4.51. Maybe the code is not fully optimised yet? Incidentally, on some of the other threads they mention tearing and the START menu icons going funny which is also something I have experienced in 32bit mode, especially at 1280x1024 which is what I run my desktop at. For the moment I am still using PD4.51, and will try again when a new PD5xx comes out.

I don't have much input other to say that I do not have any problems running the Software Cinemaster 1.0.32 engine along w/ PD 5.13.
