  • best cdr app to burn mpg?

what is the best app to burn mpeg2 or mpeg1 files onto a cd? what do y'all use and how much video can you get for each cd, assuming vhs quality and 704x480 size?

    thanks

Nobody uses 704x480 for CD video. You could only fit maybe 10-12 minutes of it per disk. Not very efficient.

Most folks find 352x240 or 352x480 much more efficient and faster to encode.

As far as encoders go I like the Ligos encoder. It's not cheap but it's fast and produces high quality clips.

The burner software I use is Adaptec's Easy CD Creator Deluxe.

I was curious about this in the fact I have seen lots of data in smal files like an hour tv show, minus commercial converted to MPG, put into only about 75 MB. total, with the files in about 4 files. It looks like if you take the bitrate and take it down low, but not low enough to make it unenjoyable. I was really suprised that this could be done. When I took movives from a VCR and used my Marvel G400 and Ligos, it took huge files like about 750 MB for a 40 minute VCR video converted to MPG with Ligos. had I worked with the bitrate I could have made the files much smaller, small enough to post the movies on a regular sized website. Of course the quality suffers but it is still doable with enough quality left with video and sound to make it worthwhile. IMHO. When my ISP goes 2-way cable modem with @Home later this year I can then start putting up some work on my web site, until then I just cannot upload many files with a stupid 1-way cable modem, and the dialup is just way to slow to move movie files with. Sorry, I strayed off topic. Bye all, and good luck.
