  • PowerDesk Resolution Manager and PowerDesk 4.xx

    Hello!

Does exist any version of PowerDesk Resolution Manager which is supporting PowerDesk 4.xx (Matrox Mystique 220 + Rainbow Runner Studio), or, does exist any wersion of PowerDesk 5.xx (6.xx) working with Matrox Mystique 220 + Rainbow Runner Studio and recognized by Rainbow Runner Studio software?

If not, is there any substitute of PowerDesk Resolution Manager utility working with PowerDesk 4.xx?

    Thanks in advance...

Sorry, PowerDesk Resolution Manager only works with PowerDesk 5.00 or later for Win9x and 5.10 or later for Win2k. The reason for this is that the older 4.xx versions of PowerDesk use the MGA.MON file for customization, and only allow specific resolutions to be included in that file. The newer 5.xx versions of PowerDesk use a more generic approach to resolution management that uses the Windows Registry.

If you have some programming experience, you can try using a hex editor on the PowerDesk driver (it will probably be .vxd for Win9x or .sys for WinNT/2k). You would search (in hex) for a resolution you no longer care about and replace it with a custom one. Then you would need to repair the checksum on the driver file. You can find a free utility that does this if you search the web enough.

Sorry I don't have better news. Good luck!
