  • One more bit of Info, Please!

I've decided a little overclocking of my G400-MAX is in order. (It will help me hold out until the G800 arrives. ) So I came here for information. All I can say is WOW!!

I'm printing two of the threads here for reference. But, I'd appreciate some advice on cooling upgrades. Should I address this at the "Hardware" forum? Thanks!

Well, if you want the cheapest possible upgrade, just throw a 40-, 50-, or 60-mm fan on the heatsink of the G400. If you have adequate case ventilation, that should be sufficient for a decent OC. If you want some more extreme cooling, check out http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/ , http://millisec.safeshopper.com/ , or www.tennmax.com . Be aware, though, that just throwing a fan on the existing sink will give at least as good performance as the cheaper units sold at 2cool or millisec. Using heatsinks on the RAM can also help out, save some money by cutting some old sinks yourself if you can. Got my G200 SD 16MB tricked out with 20mmx10mmx8mm sinks on the 2 RAM chips and a Tennmax cooler on the chip. Put that together with 140cfm of airflow through the case and I've managed to pull off 43% over stock speed without artifacts or loss of stability. Yeah, baby!
