  • Best MGATweak settings for vanilla G400 DH?

    Hello.
I want to o/c my plain G400 DH 32MB 6ns using MGATweak, but feel somewhat confused with the parameters I have to alter (I'm generally used to Powerstrip and similar o/c programs). Can someone please explain what System PLL, GCLK, MCLK and WCLK do? Alternatively, what settings do you use on your board for optimal perfomance?
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi Narayan,

I'm not so much of a techie so I can't really explain what all those stuff means....

But try to play around with the SDRAM/SGRAM Optimisation first as described in the PDF file. It was supposed to give a slight performance gain even before o/cing. Next, set your Fo to 300MHz. This will give you a core/mem setting of 150/200MHz, which is what the MAX version is running at. You can go higher but do it at your own risk....

And oh yeah....don't forget to attach a fan onto the heatsink. It helps to drwa away the heat....like this:

      Cheers.....

See my post under 'overclocking without overheating', and step up in increments, DONT make one big jump.

I used a Tennmax on the first G400 I had til I got blindsided by the hype of the G-Fart256, Luckily I kept the Tennmax, just haven't had the time to yank the stock heasink off the new Max yet. I may not do it though, thinking about getting a PIII 650 and o/c to 700+ mhz, I may not need to o/c after that. Whatcha think?
              PIII 700@960, Asus CUSL2, Adaptec 29160, 2x Seagate Barracuda 18.2GB, SB LIve!, 3COM 3C905TX, 256MB Muskin Rev. 2 PC133 at 2-2-2, G400MAX soon the be replaced with ?.

Why buy a PIII 650..too expensive, buy a PII FCPGA Coppermine E series (100mhz FSB) and oc it to 150 (if the G400 can handle a 100mhz FSB) and get 700..
