  • MGA Tweak setting for G400 vanilla / 6ns memory

I used the Matrox Tweak Utility but even at 110% I got these white pixels poping up while playing Unreal Tournament.
So now i have decided to go with MGA Tweak (since i hear it is much better).
But i would like to know what the best settings would be to get the best performance (also memory settings).

One last thing... is it such a bad idea to have my G400 overclocked all the time?? or should i just overclock it when i want to run games?

thanks for the help in advanced

I have made my own card cooler.
My card is nice and cool

I have been fooling around with the MGA Tweak settings and have been able to run at 150 / 187.5 with the dividers set at 2.5/2.0/2.5 ROCK solid.

HOWEVER, I i compared the 3D Mark 99 Max results with those of 120.1% = approx. 150/187(using the Matrox Tweak Utility) and the results with fill rates were about 15 M Texels/s slower with the MGA settings. But in Unreal Tournament the settings of the Matrox Tweak Utility had snow when the MGA Tweak Settings did not.

Oh well some more experimenting will get me the right settings

          Try these settings:
          400
          2.5
          2
          2.5

it may work with that ram

            I tried 400 @ 2.5/2.0/2.5 and it works fine.

I tried going more and was able to get to 415 @ 2.5/2.0/2.5 before i began getting graphic corruption.

            I love this card

jediphoenix Is your card clocked at 150/200 at default? Im only asking becouse the 32MB OEM G400 always comes with the "standard" heatsink even if it has 5ns memory.
According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

Hmm.. each G400 card is always going to be different.. I highly suggest READING the enclosed PDF file. The author of the PDF file who also made MGA Tweak made a very concise and simple instruction set on how to get the most from your card. You kinda have to find the settings that are best for your card to get the most out of it.

Like, when it comes to memory optimization.. I run it 3, 2, 3, 8, 2, 1, Fast, 1, 1, 1, 0.0, 0.0 which has made a bit of an increase when it comes to playing games and even in windows..

Also, I conservatively run the PLL at 410 with my dividers at 2.25/2.5/2.25... that makes a monster difference right there..

Oh yeah, I also have the 5ns RAM as well..

With the standard heatsink is it safe to have the card overclocked all the time. I have overclocked my G400 32MB DH OEM to 112.5% using Matrox utility (at 117.5% the screen starts to go). Can the card get damaged with no warning?

                        I highly recommend MGATweak !
I tried Matrox Tweak Utility and all i gotta say is IT SUCKS !
With MGATweak you can get your card much higher and with better performance without all that snow

just be sure you have cool air in the case for that heatsink and you'll be fine
