dya, the G450 has the best 2D quality of any video card you can buy today.

Its used in medical situations, along side some custom 2D cards that cost thousands of dollars.

The MX400 is much faster in games, but the G450 will still get you by. For example, Serious Sam is playable at 1024X768X32, but only just. (and thats on a G400, not G450).

If you want game speed, and ok 2D quality, look at the Kyro2 or the Radeon. If 2D is the most important, then the G450 is teh only card for you.

The Geforce line of cards has the worst 2D of any cards. Thats Geforce, geforceDDR, geforce2, geforce2mx (200 and 400), etc. The Geforce3 is meant to be better than the older ones, but there hasnt been a proper 2D quality comparison done with one yet.

            Hope this helps.

            Oh, and welcome.

            Ali

              Thank's for your reply.

Does the G450 2D quality over the ELSA MX is clearly notable even at 1024*768 ?

The biggest difference in qualiy in 2D normally takes place in resolutions above 1280x960, but to answer that question you should compare them side by side on the same monitor (preferably yours!). If gaming is your thing and 2D doesn't really matter then do the nV dance, but if your looking to get a larger/higher res monitor in the near future you'll love the 2D that the G450 has (especially at resolutions of 1600x1200 and above).

And if you have a little time and can wait a little, wait for the G550 - it may have around MX performance level with Matrox 2D quality, but don't hold your breath about its performance - there are still no reviews out yet, so you'd have to wait a little. Our BBs (BetaBoys) know, but they can't say anything yet

Hope so, I'm not so confident with Matrox after its release of G450.
