• Another Matrox G550 'article'

Matrox has announced the first brand new graphics chip for the past 2 years. As we have already informed you, G550 and videocards based on it are not for gamers and is generally aimed for business users. Since this 3D accelerator does not bring anything new and its speed is far from todays RADEON and GeForce2, the gaming community will not be interested in it. From the other side, the new solution from Matrox brings a number of innovative 3D functions, which will be used not only in the games, but also in business applications, e.g. in telecommunications or presentations. Keep in mind, 3D is developing very fast this days. For instance, JPA forecasts, strong growth in the number of sites using 3D technologies to deploy new types of content for e-commerce, entertainment and gaming, business collaboration, and other applications. 3D sites are expected to expand from just a handful in 2001 to more than one million by 2007. At the same time, deployment of 3D viewing technologies, such as Shockwave 3D, will grow from just over 21 million in 2001 to more than 559 million by 2007. We believe, along with the web-sites, the rest content and software will not remain at the present level.
