  • G100 and DVD

Hi! I need a card for my second system and I can get a Productiva G100 for $10. I was wondering about the DVD playback of the card. Any suggestions?

    G100 aint gonna cut it.
It's a good office/word processing card, but it's gonna choke if you try to do anything as taxing as DVD on it.

Do you think that a Permedia2 (my other choice) would fare any better?

You could always try the Matrox Hardware DVD Module. It works with the Productiva G100. Only thing is, with the G100, there's no TV Output or a SPDIF Connection for the AC3 signal.

I saw this running on a relatively low spec machine and produced great results. The processor was an Intel Pentium MMX 233 with 32MB of RAM. Only problem you might have now is with software to run it, but there's several options out there that run with the module.
