  • I need manual for Matrox ultima card

I have Matrox Ultima VLB card but I don't have manual for it. MGA-ULT/2/V/H is card model. It is full lenght. I need info what I can do with its dip-switch.

Here we go... Switches numbered from left-right, up=off, down=on:

If this is the primary/only video card in the machine, the only setting you can use is:

    1 2 3 4 5 6
    U D D U D D

If you've got another video card, or you *really* want to know what the switches do, post back here or email me.

And now a request for everyone else - the accelerator on my Ultima VLB/4/200 died a while ago (the VGA and RAMDAC still work). If anyone's got one (card that is, not accelerator) lying around that they don't want, let me know. TIA

Blah blah blah nick blah blah confusion, blah blah blah blah frog.

BTW, my manual doesn't mention the ULT/2/V (VLB model), but it does cover the ULT/2/A (ISA model). (/H stands for high-resolution option - i.e. faster RAMDAC). Just thought you should know.

          OK then...

Switches 1,2,3 - controls I/O mapping into the 640K-1M space - make sure this doesn't conflict with other devices

          U D D - AC000-AFFFF (Default)
          D U D - C8000-CBFFF
          U U D - CC000-CFFFF
          D D U - D0000-D3FFF
          U D U - D4000-D7FFF
          D U U - D8000-DBFFF
          U U U - DC000-DFFFF
          D D D - Invalid

Switch 4 - enable VGA circuitry and BIOS

          U - VGA enabled (Default)
          D - VGA disabled

Switch 5 - Reserved / Boot mode (depending on card model)

          U - Boot 16-bit (ISA cards only)
          D - Boot 8-bit (ditto)

          On other cards, leave down.

Switch 6 - Sync mode / RAM upgrade (depending on card model)

          U - Reserved (MGA/VLB/2)
          2M RAM upgrade present (MGA/VLB/2+)
          Composite sync (others)

          D - (Default) Reserved (MGA/VLB/2)
          RAM upgrade not present (MGA/VLB/2+)
          Separate sync (others)

The VLB/2(+) only supports separate sync.

          Have fun...
