  • Possible to use the g400icd.dll from the Windows 2000 driver set in NT 4?

A while ago, I thought that I read somewhere that Matrox was coding their drivers so that one could copy the new gx00icd.dll file from the newest release into the newest release for your OS and you'd be able to use the new OpenGL driver.

For example: If I was running the latest Windows NT driver, I could copy the g400icd.dll from the just release Windows 2000 driver set and I'd have an updated OpenGL driver.

    My questions are thus:

    1. Is this true?

    2. If #1 is true, how come the Windows 2000 ICD .dll file is so much smaller than the Windows NT ICD .dll file?

    Thanks!

    Chuck

AFAIK, the ICDs are interchangeable only between the 6.xx drivers for Windows 9x/Me/2000.

#1 is true, and how do you know the win2k icd is smaller? Are you looking at the g400icd.dl_ file that gets unpacked? If so, that is a compressed file that needs to be extracted with winzip or similar.

          Well, it worked.

At least with the OpenGL screensavers.

I'll try a game of Kyodai when I get time.

          Thanks!
