  • 5.51 drivers buggy??

Installed 5.51 drivers for the second time with same result. Win2K will not boot properly. After installation the required reboot works OK for me but after shutting down the system overnight, it will hang at reboot. Even safe mode will not boot. Does anyone else have this problem and should I just forget about 5.51 or am I doing something wrong here?
TIA for any help or advice.

    This specific problem? No.

    Many many other problems? Yes.

5.51 is a big ball-drop on Matrox' part. They added dual-head and broke everything else.

Surprisingly, I had no problems whatsoever with 5.51. I haven't noticed any slowdown either. However, I don't use DualHead, so that may be a reason.

5.51's work fine for me too. I've never tried any other win2k drivers tho, as I used the 5.51's right after my first ever install of win2k. I don't use dual-head, as I have an OEM SH card.

I'm starting to get the idea it's DualHead related. I'm using DVD MAX for watching DVD on my TV. For now I'll stick with the old drivers as they don't have this problem. The only feature I liked in 5.51 was the ability to use a different resolution of the primary and secondary monitor anyway and I'm not using this feature as often as watching DVD on my TV.
