• What ever happened to.......

I know before GDC/Cebit and everyone getting worked into a froth about the G550/G800, there was supposed to be a guy from Matrox Talking about a new mapping tech that similar to EVBM, except that it made making transparent images easier or the like. I believe they where supposed to talk about it at GDC, but I haven't seen boo of it on any of the major sites. Maybe if had some more info on it we could do some reading between the lines like we usally have too!

Wasn't it supposed to be about Displacement Mapping ?

I went to GDC and a talk on displacement mapping presented by Matrox.
Is this what you are referring to by “catch the article by Matrox”?
There was no mention of new Matrox hardware in the talk.

I do not think Matrox has given up on the gamming community. As mentioned in other threads Matrox had a booth at GDC and met behind closed doors with some game developers.

I found it a bit amusing that during the question and answer period following Michael Abrashes (Microsoft) talk on Xbox, a Matrox employee was asking for specific performance details and specifications of the nVidia GPU.

One other thing I noted was that during the Matrox presented talk on displacement mapping they used nVidia hardware for their demo.
