Will Matrox enter the chipset market?

I don't think there is any financial sense in it for Matrox going into the chipset market would require alot of R+D money to spend. Also
Intel + ATI
Via + S3
Ali + Trident ( i think)
NVidia
What I'm trying to say is the major chipset manufacturers are mostly paired off allready.

I have to admit it would be very nice to see a Matrox RT2000 integrated on board and sold as a video editing box.

You will get a quality control nightmare if you start selling just chipsets.

Some cards will have good ram, others marginal ram.
Some cards will look OK, and others fuzzy. None of them will look really great.
Whose drivers do you use? The "reference" drivers or the manufacturer's specific drivers?
The various video cards will behave differently in the same motherboard.
etc.

It is an all around bad idea for somebody whose reputation is on a high quality product.
