  • G450 eTV Reviewed

In this month's PCFormat. It gets 84%:

'3D Graphics accelerator or video recorder? The eTV boldy has a bash at both.'

    Good:

    Video Input
    Video Editing
    Timeshifting
    Good Price

    Bad:

    Average Games Performance

They say that it's not going to make the 'average hardcore tweaker sprint down to his nearest computer store and buy the card', but they like it otherwise. They reckon gaming performance is 'on par with something like a Voodoo 5500, so while a Geforce Ultra would leave in the dust, it can cope admirably with most games. Basically, it's a very effective compromise.'

Then they go on to review 3dfx' latest card (I thought they went bye-bye ??) which is a TV card. They like it too, but they mention more than once that the G450 eTV's timeshifting is cool and this card doesn't have it.

(They also call the eTV a 'Marvel G450' more than once... )

    Cheers,
    Steve

So it is Ant - I even had the sneak behind-closed-doors preview of it too back at ECTS and I still forgot it was called the Marvel...

You lot never seen the G450's box?

Cool, innit?! (looks more like a Game box...)

The Marvel G40 eTV box is sooo much better than that. Where the Millennium G450 box says "Millennium" the Marvel G450 box says "Marvel G450". And where the Millennium G450 box says "G450" the Marvel G450 eTV box says "eTV".

How come everybody seems to have Millenium G400 Series mouse pads except me?

                    I have a G400 mouse pad.
                    It's on my kid's G200 powered PC.
                    IT SUCKS!
                    Hard, unconfortable, un-ergonomic...
Maybe I need to use it with a G4x0 instead of my G200...perhaps there is an incompatability factor there...

Ant - it's plastic, not glass... or did you get an extra special cool one?
